Both iron and stainless steel furniture have countless advantages, mostly because stores sell them often since they offer outstanding durability.

Of course that both materials require some fundamental care, which we will also let you know about. Along with wood, iron and stainless steel furniture are widely used in industrial decoration, which is excellent news if you think of creating something similar.

Now know what you have to consider before choosing the furniture you need at home.

How to choose iron furniture
It would be best to keep in mind some matters when choosing iron furniture, an extremely resistant and heavy metal type. Between more and less positive points, it is important to weigh both on the scale before deciding.

Advantages of iron furniture
As we have already mentioned, iron is an extremely resistant material, which offers impressive durability. In other words, this means that when you buy a piece of iron furniture, you will hardly ever have to replace it.

The iron furniture finishes are of high quality and allow it to exist in different colors, which is a great asset when decorating a house.

Compared with other more resistant materials, such as wood, iron furniture is much cheaper and can offer equal-unimproved durability.

Disadvantages of iron furniture
It is harder to find iron furniture that is as comfortable as pieces of other materials. Such a situation can turn out a point in favor of iron manufactured furniture.

Although many interior designers suggest using iron furniture in modern decoration, that is not always the most suitable because there are cases where the welding is rougher than it would be desirable for those where the furniture is even cheaper, more likely to rust.

How to choose stainless steel furniture
Stainless steel is one of the most present materials inside a house, even without its residents noticing it. This raw material is present in furniture and cutlery, countertops, and even handrails.

Advantages of stainless steel
Stainless steel can rarely pick up toxins, which means it may not rust, for example. This is, without a doubt, one of the most significant advantages of choosing stainless steel furniture. Its durability resists even the wettest environments and also high temperatures.

The stainless steel furniture pieces do not break and are among the most quality pieces on the market. Besides, it is essential to mention that stainless steel is a recyclable material, which means that it does not compromise the environment.

Disadvantages of stainless steel
Stainless steel does not have as many disadvantages as iron nevertheless, it's essential to refer its price since it can be relatively high. Therefore, don't be surprised when you are about to buy a piece of stainless steel furniture, and they tell you the final value.

Before you decide, you must know what kind of piece you want to buy, where you will put it, and under what conditions. The truth is that both materials are very similar at first sight, and that is also why they coexist perfectly in urban refuges and colder environments.

Care for iron and stainless steel furniture

Iron furniture is widely used in outdoor spaces and, as such, requires more regular maintenance. Therefore, it is advisable to wash the pieces at least once a month, using only liquid detergent and warm water. Then, wipe the furniture with a dry cloth to not run the risk of rusting.

Although durable, iron does not resist everything. Therefore, you should cover the furniture with proper covers or tarps on rainy days to avoid degradation. If, despite this care, your furniture pieces still rust, remove the rust with a wool mop and then paint the affected area with metallic paint.

In the case of stainless steel, be careful not to use steel sponges to clean the parts. Instead, you should prefer plastic ones and neutral detergents to guarantee that sparkle, so characteristic of this material. Always use warm water and dry the surfaces with a soft cloth.

You must expect, however, that with time the stainless steel loses some shine. At that time, you should use glycerine (or vaseline) with a soft cloth until the piece in question absorbs it.
