7 Decoration trends you can't miss

The years go by and, along with them, new trends of interior design (re)appear.
Find out which 7 you have to apply at home this year

There are timeless trends and there are those that appear with the arriving of a new year. This happens not only in interior design but also in most areas—such as fashion.

The main decoration trends usually involve the application of new colors and the recovery of old trends, which come and go very quickly. There are others, however, that remain timeless, such as minimalistic decoration and the application of wallpaper, for example. Whichever trend you choose, we are sure it will give a new life to your home (much more original, to say the least).

That is why we’ve gathered the 7 interior design trends that you (really) have to apply at home. So, besides renovating that room that has been putting off for so long, you can do it now in the whole house, with the best tips of the moment.

1. Wallpaper

The years go by, and the wallpaper comes back (again). This is one of the most cyclical decoration trends, given its timelessness and the number of options it offers as the years go by.

With this, we mean that the types of wallpaper are changing in the face of the trends that arise. So, use and abuse the floral patterns and even the geometric ones, which you can apply to a whole room or a single wall, for example. In this field, creativity is the one in charge.

2. Asymmetric patterns

Asymmetric patterns are another interior design trend you should keep an eye on. Different and disruptive options attract anyone's attention and can be applied anywhere in the house.

Thinking "outside the box" is an asset in any area, and interior design is no exception. Asymmetric patterns can, therefore, be applied to the wallpaper, photographs (to be hung on the wall), carpets, cushions, and even decorative objects.

3. Tiles

Tiles are always a trend, don't you agree? That's why this was a tip that couldn't be missing in this article, mainly because we want you to apply these techniques in your own home, where you can keep only one tile tone and apply others differently, to give more personality to the room.

The colored tiles give a very special touch to the decoration, in whatever room it is applied. Not only can they be placed on the wall, but also the floor of a kitchen or bathroom, for example. There are also decorative objects that include tiles and can bring more life to your living room.

4. Joining rooms

If you are building a new house, or even decorating an old one, this is the decorating trend that cannot be lacking in your choices. Joining rooms is one of the most original ideas, and gives the feeling that you live in a larger space.

One of the most common integrations is the union between the kitchen and the living room, where the partition wall no longer exists. You can, however, "separate" the rooms anyway, namely by the type of floor you place, since each room can have a different type of floor, able to distinguish them.

5. Minimalism

Minimalism is one of the most timeless trends in interior design. The same applies, for example, to architecture, where "less is more". By decorating a house according to this principle, you ensure that you do not exaggerate any aspect of the decoration.

By this, we do not mean that you should opt only for whites or "pastel" colors... What you should do instead is limit yourself to what is strictly essential in terms of choosing colors, furniture, and other complementary accessories.

6. Tone on tone

The tone on tone is one of the 7 most original interior design trends because it appeals to each one's creativity and ability to transform a room with only one color.

Therefore, choose a "base" color and decorate the space with different shades of that same color. Start with the strongest ones and continue with choosing the lightest ones to create the sensation of harmony and lightness that you are looking for.

7.  The Classic and the Contemporary

Don't doubt your decorative skills anymore, because combining the classic style with the contemporary is certainly the differentiating idea you were looking for. Let's focus, for example, on your bedroom, which can be painted with "trendy colors" and, for example, with bedding to your taste (more modern).

Add the classic furniture to the contemporary style you've already guaranteed in your room (which can even be complemented with unusual lighting options). Start with the bed and end with the storage furniture, which can all present a classic and even vintage style, to give that special touch to your space.
